UN-Surprising Revelations

Is anyone surprised by these revelations by the UN's purported nuclear watchdog Muhammad Al-Baradei, made on the Al-Arabiya network this past weekend?

Iran has the capability to produce a nuclear weapon within six months to one year. "It would ned this period to produce a weapon, and to obtain highly-enriched uranium in sufficient quantities for a single nuclear weapon," Al-Baradei said.

And "If military force is used, I would conclude that there is no mechanism left for me to defend," El-Baradai added. "I always think of resigning in the event of a military strike."

So let's see if we have this straight: Iran is potentially six months away from a completed nuclear weapon in spite of the IAEA's useless oversight, but if anyone dares to do anything about it militarily, the inept El-Baradei will resign?

Quel dommage...

  1. ElBaradei said that IF Iran is bombed, Iran MAY decide to withdraw from the NPT at which time it would take them 6mos to 1 year to make a nuke.

But hey, why let nuance and accuracy get in the way of the Booga! Booga!

  2. You don't contradict the point I made, you merely add a couple of qualifiers as to whether they will or not. I never said they would--I said that they could, in six months to a year, and that was based on El-Baradei's own admission. Your statement agrees with that.

If they can do it in six months to a year, then they're far closer to a completed nuke than El-Baradei (a long-time Iran apologist) has ever admitted before now.

So we actually have no disagreement regarding the nuke: if Iran decided to do so, they could complete a nuke in six months to a year, just as I said.
